The
Old Barge Lake is connected to the Big Lake at the southern end
of Chappell's Cut, this is a 5 acre gravel pit with an average depth
of 4 foot and large shallow areas of about 2 foot in depth. There
are three islands surrounded by shallow water, several secluded
bays surrounded by mature bankside growth and three Norfolk reed
beds.
The Old Barge Lake contains all species of fish, in what number
we do not know because we do know that the fish from the Big Lake
migrate to and from the Old Barge Lake. Bigger fish move into the
Old Barge in warm weather and smaller fish move in when the weather
is cold.
There is always a large number of Pike to be found in this lake.
